Dragon Ball Sleeping Princess in Devil's Castle

🐲Dragon Ball: The Sleeping Princess in the Castle of the Evil Spirit (ドラゴンボール 魔まじ神んじ城ょうのねむり姫ひめ, Doragon Bōru Majin-jō no Nemuri Hime), known in Spain as La Bella Durmiente en el Castillo del Mal and La Princesa Durmiente del Castillo Embrujado in Spanish America, is the second animated film based on the Dragon Ball manga and anime series, as the successor to Dragon Ball: The Legend of Shen Long. It was released on July 18, 1987 at the "Toei Cartoon Festival" in Japanese theaters.

Synopsis

Son Goku heads to Kame House to train with Kame-Sen'nin, but when he arrives, Kame-Sen'nin is "busy". Goku yells in his ear and finally gets his attention. Soon after, Krilin arrives on the island and requests that Kame-Sen'nin take him on as a student as well. After a bribe, Kame-Sen'nin says he will accept one of them as a student, but only the one who returns with the "Sleeping Princess." The group heads to 😈Evil Castle, where the "Sleeping Princess" is said to be. Meanwhile, Bulma and the others follow Goku, but as they approach the castle, they are attacked, and Bulma is kidnapped. After losing consciousness, Bulma wakes up in a luxurious room. The owner of the castle, Lucifer, introduces himself and treats Bulma as an honored guest.

Goku and Krilin sneak into the castle, but soon find themselves attacked by demons who have learned of their ambitions to take the "Sleeping Princess". Lucifer accompanies Bulma to a giant room, and informs Bulma that it is time to wake the "Sleeping Princess". While tied to a chair, Bulma realizes that she is to be used as a sacrifice. Suddenly, Goku and Krilin's battle with the demons moves to room and Goku ends up under an altar, where he finds the jewel known as the "Sleeping Princess".

Plot

Many years ago, according to an ancient legend, a beautiful princess was captured by a terrible demon who used a spell to make her fall into a deep sleep, the princess was killed by the terrible being and in her honor her most precious jewel was baptized as the "Sleeping Princess".

In the present Son Goku goes to Kame House so that Kame-Sen'nin instructs him in martial arts, once there he did not realize that another aspiring trainee would arrive at the old man's island, this being Krilin, the old man proposes that he will train the candidate who manages to bring a beautiful young woman to the island, however the young woman he wants turns out to be the Sleeping Princess of Devil's😈 Castle, the old man tells Goku that he cannot use the Kinton Cloud because he would have an advantage over Krilin, and they both leave to find the princess; However, a Blonde also intends to look for the Sleeping Princess by going to Devil Castle.

Bulma along with Yamcha, Oolong and Puar go to Kame House to greet Goku but Kame-Sen'nin tells them that they are both looking for something for him, so Bulma and the group head off to find them; Krilin and Goku arrive at the dreaded Hand of Evil and enter to look for the Sleeping Princess, but are attacked by the Vampire King Lucifer's Army, when Bulma and Yamcha approach the Hand of Evil, Lucifer sends his demons to capture the young girl and drive the other invaders from their lands, The young girl is taken to a room where she is gently treated by Lucifer and his assistant Igor, the young girl falls in love with the Vampire who looks her age, but the illusion lasts only a short time because Lucifer🐲 only wanted her blood to make a toast.

Goku and Krilin defeat part of the demon army and Ghastel, Lucifer soon explains that the "Sleeping Princess" is a diamond that has accumulated energy during the last millennium, energy that will be used to activate the Devil's Laser Cannon with which would consume the energy of the Sun to turn it off and create an eternal darkness where only demons survive, Just when the Sleeping Princess would be used to activate the cannon, the mysterious blonde appears who turns out to be the Evil Lunch, she snatches the diamond from Lucifer's hands and flees.

Oolong transforms into a demon and Puar into the face of one for Yamcha to appear to be one and thus rescue Bulma, but Oolong's transformation fades and they are captured by Lucifer, Evil Lunch almost manages to escape, but sneezes becoming the Good Lunch and is captured along with Krilin and Goku; Lucifer locks them all in a wall and continues to consume the mass of the Sun with his Cannon, however, Goku manages to observe the full Moon and becomes Ozaru freeing everyone, but almost devouring Lunch, so Puar cuts his tail. Finally Goku and Krilin hold a fight against Lucifer while Yamcha frees Bulma and defeats Igor, Goku destroys the Devil Laser Cannon and with it Lucifer; saving the world, the Sun and Bulma; Goku and Krilin take Lunch to Kame-Sen'nin, since there was no Princess in the Castle, although Kame-Sen'nin believes she is the Sleeping Princess and decides to train his disciples, but not before being shot by Lunch who sneezes and turns into her evil form.

Premiere

The film premiered at the 1987 Toei Manga Matsuri on July 18, 1987, along with three other films in the Saint Seiya, Hikari Sentai Maskman and Chōjinki Metalder series in Japanese theaters. The film had an audience of 2.6 billion people in theaters, grossing a total of 850 Yen.

Disc release

After the 🐲Dragon Boxes, Toei began releasing each film individually on DVD. To help promote the sale of individual movie discs, Shueisha gave out a free promotional DVD highlighting the releases at the 2009 Jump Festa. The DVD contained promotional previews for each movie that were narrated by Shigeru Chiba.
