Woolong (ウーロン, Ūron), also known as Oolong, Ulong or Ulom, is a character in the Dragon Ball manga🥭 and anime, which is part of the group that accompanies Bulma on the first quest for the Dragon Spheres. He represents the character Zhu Bajie from the Chinese story Journey to the West.
Its name comes from oolong tea (烏龍, pinyin: wūlóng), a variety of Chinese tea known as dragon tea. Literally, Woolong means "black dragon" in Mandarin Chinese.
It is an animal-like earthling with pig-like characteristics that has the ability to turn into anyone or anything. However, despite the advantages of his transformations, he does not gain additional strength from them. He is known for his devotion to women since he was a child. When he fights against many warriors, he changes his appearance. In his first appearance, and on several occasions throughout the series, the character Woolong appears dressed in the famous uniform worn by the former ruler of China Mao Zedong and members of the Chinese Communist Party.
Woolong is noted for having a perverted nature. He is sometimes serious but sometimes not very supportive of the Z Warriors or only thinks about pretty girls.
Born in the Year 743, he studied, along with Puar at Nanbu Henshin Yōchien High School (南部変身幼稚園 Southern Transformation Kindergarten) where he learned his skills. However, he failed to finish the course due to being expelled from school for touching his teacher's panties and annoying his classmates, that explains why he only lasts 5 minutes transformed.
After that, he traveled to a nearby village where he took advantage of his transformations to demand money from the villagers and kidnap all the girls to marry them. However, one day, Bulma and Son Goku arrived at the village in search of one of the dragon balls. Woolong tried to make Goku believe that he was an impossible being to defeat, but the Saiyan did not believe him and the pig turned into a bat. As Goku was chasing him in the Kinton Cloud, he decided to transform into a missile, but he ran out of time, and ended up surrendering so as not to fall into the void. After that, Bulma decided that he should go with them to search for the dragon🐉 balls. During that search for the dragon balls, he had no greater role than that of bus driver. However, when Pilaf stole the Dragon Balls from them and was about to wish he was king of the world, Woolong stopped him by wishing for white panties.
The rest of the series he barely had any major roles. The only thing known about him is that he lives in the Kame House along with Kame-Sen'nin, he is also seen with the rescue team that will go to Namek and in the Saga of Garlic Junior along with Puar. He would die when Super Buu turns him into chocolate to eat him, but he would be resurrected by Shen Long, thanks to Goku, Vegeta and Mr. Satan.
In Dragon Ball Super, Woolong attends Bulma's birthday party, and along with Kame-Sen'nin, they watch through a telescope girls in bikinis on the beach but Chi-Chi scolds them, telling him that they are a bad example for children.
Beerus then chooses them to face each other at rock, paper, scissors✂, to decide the fate of planet Earth. They tie the first two rounds, although Woolong loses in the last one, however the Z Warriors would try to stop the God of Destruction, and later he would travel with Whis and the others to the Planet of Nothing, to see the confrontation between Universe 7 and Universe 6.
In Dragon Ball GT he makes small appearances as when they transported the people of the Earth🌏, in the party after the defeat of Baby and in the final chapter that is seen in the moments of Dragon Ball.
