Paikuhan (パイクーハン, Paikūhan) is the champion fighter of the Western Galaxies, who handily defeated the Hell Rebels alongside Son Goku during the Otherworld Martial Arts Tournament when they staged a revolt.🏆
He first appears as a central character in the Otherworld Martial Arts Tournament Arc of the Dragon Ball Z anime, appearing only as a filler character.
His name comes from the Japanese gastronomic term for pork ribs with boiled rice (排骨飯, Paikūhan), which in turn comes from the Taiwanese dish Páigǔ fàn (排骨飯, Páigǔ fàn).
It is stated in the concept art by Akira Toriyama that Paikuhan is a character based on Piccolo. Even in the absence of staff for the production of the anime, it is decided to "use Piccolo as a reference for facial expressions".
Paikuhan behaves noticeably different each time he appears. When he first appears, he is a very intelligent fighter. He uses this to his advantage by planning attacks. Paikuhan even goes so far as to correct Goku on his "careless" dodging and lack of concentration, offering advice even in battle. He hardly speaks a word, but later opens up during his fight against Goku. Paikuhan has similar heroic characteristics to Goku as well, and fights for good. Goku compares his personality to Piccolo's.
In the feature film Dragon Ball Z: Fusion Reborn! Goku and Vegeta, he is seen increasingly jealous when Goku makes it to the battle against Janemba and he does not. He is also seen impatient when he asks Janemba where he came from, and he is shown to become very angry when things don't go his way (an example is him yelling as he tries to get escape from Janemba's crystal prison).
In Majin-Boo's Arc, aside from playing smart, he also underestimates Little Boo quite a bit, a recklessness which he would obviously regret.
Paikuhan appears as a tall, muscular, green-skinned man. He dresses in white clothes, a blue T-shirt underneath them. He wears brown boots, brown belt with a golden circle in the center, and a tall turban type hat that has a matching golden circle in the middle. He has flat ears similar to Freeza's and no visible nose. When the hat is removed, black dots are visible on the top of his head.🧊
Paikuhan was once a fighter living in an unknown location in the western quadrant of the Universe. After dying in an unknown heroic death, Paikuhan was allowed to travel to the planet of the West Kaio, where he trained hard and became the best student of it.

Paikuhan is seen shortly after when Goku and the Northern Kaiō arrive for a meeting with the Great Kaiō at the same time as he and Kaio sama of the South, who is revealed to be on bad terms with the Northern Kaiō. After a discussion in which the Southern Kaiō suggests that Goku and Paikuhan have a fight, the Great Kaiō appears and asks him if he and Goku can go to Hell to control some villains who were causing trouble, namely Freeza, Great King Kold, Cell, Reacoom, Burtta, Jheese and Ghurd. In Hell, Goku defeats the Ginyu Special Combat Forces and Paikuhaneasily defeats Freeza, Big King Kold, and Cell, much to Goku's surprise.👑
He participates in the Martial Arts Tournament of the other world where he wins all his fights very easily, until he has to face Olibu who represents a good fight, although Paikuhan finally beats him. In the finals he has to face Son Goku who transforms himself into Supersaiyan to the Maximum Power against which he takes off his weighted clothes (with weight) increasing his speed and strength, thus overcoming Goku. Paikuhan was winning thanks to his great arsenal of techniques, but finally when it seemed that Son Goku had won by dodging one of his best techniques and giving him an Instant Kamehameha that took him out of the ring, Kaio says that while fighting they both touched the ceiling and therefore would be disqualified.

After Super Buu appears and starts a slaughter on Earth, Krilin and Yamcha are sent to the Planet of Big Kaio, where they meet Paikuhan and other deceased fighters. When Little Buu travels to Big Kaio's Planet during his search for Goku and Vegeta, Paikuhan risks his entire existence by approaching the mute monster along with Olibu and making hurtful remarks about him, not knowing about how terrible Buu is. Just as Little Buu prepares to destroy the planet with a Planetary Explosion, Paikuhan is saved at the last minute when Little Buu teleports to the Sacred Planet, having finally found Goku and Vegeta's Ki. Throughout the duration of the battle on the Sacred Planet, Paikuhan watches with the other dead warriors as the final incredible battle gets underway.
Appearing in the movie helping the Z Warriors stop the Otherworldly threat Janemba, Janemba is at a higher level than him, so after testing the demon's strength, he goes to help Enma Daio and lets Goku and Vegeta defeat him. He then returns to give Goku and Vegeta time to do the 2 fusions (Veku (failed) and Gogeta).
Paikuhan is very strong and at least equal in strength to Goku in his full Supersaiyan form at Maximum Power. He defeated Freeza, Cell and King Cold with simple moves. In addition to his great strength, and most notably speed, he has powerful techniques, including the Fiery Strike, which is similar to Goku's technique, the Kaio-ken, in that it provides a brief but incredible boost of energy, speed and strength. However, Paikuhan is extremely inferior to Little Boo and Super-Janemba.🔥
Super-Paikuhan (スーパーパイクーハン, Sūpā Paikūhan) is a state he assumes in Dragon Ball Heroes after he has been training with the Northern Kaio. In this state, his attire changes to one more similar to that of his master, the West Kaio, with the bandages coming out of his turban covering the lower part of his face.
His exact power in this form is a mystery, but it has increased to such an extent that he is able to block an attack from Broly transformed into Supersaiyan 4 at Maximum Power.
