A member of the family was first referenced in 629 in the ninja world. The Yamanaka family and their Yamanaka technique were first explained in 659. In the early nineties it was thought that the Yamanaka were based on Iga. When the clan entered Konohagakure however this theory changed, the clan was first referred to as a branch of Iga in 858 and their Yamanaka technique was explained in 859.
